River Zrmanja- two-headed kliška dancer
Beauty always has two faces, and so does Zrmanja, which is said to have two streams, one of which is invisible. That it has two mouths, and even that it is a river that sees its end twice in the same course. There are also two types of water at the mouth… Duality is its energy, and its beauty is almost fatal In the village of Zrmanja Vrelo, located like most beautiful places in Croatia – in the middle of nowhere – after you leave your car in someone’s meadow, an oasis begins near the old building. You still need to walk a few hundred meters until you are hypnotized by the light noise that develops under the 200-meter-high Misi. These are the rocks under Mount Poštak under which Zrmanja is born, at the source of which a dam was built in 1924 (a hollow bridge that you can climb on and from which water gushes)..

Čikola River – water beauty
River Čikola springs at the foot of Mount Svilaja near the hamlets of Mirlović field and Čavoglava. The source consists of two lakes (lake springs). In the summer months, they can dry up a lot, so you can enter a small cave where there is always water. Near the source, there are mills in private ownership, which have been restored to some extent. In the first part of its course, the Čikola meanders peacefully through the idyllic, rich and fertile Petrovi field, surrounded by high mountain massifs, the Moseć mountain, the Promin and Svilaja mountains. In the Čikola canyon, in the caves near Brina, a stone tool was found that dates back to the Younger Stone Age. In the younger Iron Age, the Illyrian tribe Delmati inhabited the area of today’s Drniš and its surroundings.
DAY 5.
RIVER JADRO – THE SOURCE OF LIFE
The Jadro River rises at the foot of the Mosor mountain in the town of Majdan at an altitude of 35 meters, is about 4.5 kilometers long and flows into the Adriatic Sea in the town of Solin. Jadro is a typical karst river that springs from underground. Its importance was also known to the ancient Illyrians and Romans, who built cities such as Salona at the mouth, and water was brought through aqueducts all the way to Diocletian’s Palace in today’s Split. Because of its great influence on life, it was also called Croatian Jordan.
